1968 Jaguar E Type 2+2 (Barry) Assembly to driving condition

Specification (briefly) for this project is as follows: The current owner of this vehicle (Vincent) took possession following the passing of the previous owner, his good friend, Barry, about five years ago. Vincent immediately set about the task of completing the restoration, to honor the memory of his friend. Unfortunately, four shops later, progress has been very limited.  Our task is to assemble the car and get it running as quickly as possible. This is not a restoration project, and the finished car will have its share of rough edges. However, the plan is to have it back on the road before the end of the year. '

I am pleased to report that your car has now been mechanically reassembled and is moving under its own steam once again. If you click on the photo below you will see a short video of Zakk driving the car in the CJ parking lot.

We have submitted your chome for plating and have ordered your new interior kit from England. Once those items arrive we will wrap everything up and get the car back to you in time for some summer cruising. I'm sure Barry's wife will enjoy seeing the car back on the road

Time to put the short block together
Measuring thrust of crankshaft	Piston/rod assemblies installed

Oil pump and pick-up pipes installed	Installing the timing chain assembly

Installing new custom CJ valve seats	Surfacing cylinder head after valve job
Testing the block for cracks after machining out old cylinder sleeves	New custom CJ top hat liners will be installed
Pulling down new liners
Main caps were align honed	Honing cylinders to size

We got your car up and running yesterday and ran it through the gears on the dyno first thing this morning. I am sorry to report that the engine really didn't sound very healthy and it also smoked pretty badly. Per your instructions, we already have the engine removed from the car and will have a full rebuild underway in the next few days.

It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday and I am delighted that you have chosen Classic Jaguar to help you honor the memory of your good friend, Barry. I hope you enjoy watching the car come together over the next few months.
