Job # 1940 (MS) - Jaguar C Type
Stage One cylinder head rebuild
Back to Home

Update report - September 18, 2010

I am pleased to report that we have now completed this Stage One cylinder head rebuild. As you can see from the flow sheets, we saw gains of around 56 cfm on the Superflow bench.

Intake manifold was also port matched to intake runners

Significant increase in flow will translate to big HP gains!

We have now completed the port work and will be flow testing your cylinder head on Monday. We hope to have this build wrapped up and shipped early next week.

Damaged combustion chamber welded
Grinding and smoothing the weld repair

Ported intake runner
Ported exhaust runner

I am pleased to report that your C Type cylinder head arrived safely from Colombia and we already have the rebuild underway. Unfortunately, there are a number of problems with the head that will have to be addressed.

In the first place, none of the cam caps are original to the head. This means that both cam tunnels will have to be align honed. There is also significant damage and deformity to two of the cylinder head stud bosses (see photo # 2 below). They will both have to be built up with weld and remachined on the end mill. Finally, the water jackets on the deck surface are quite badly corroded and will require welding and reshaping.

We have sourced a pair of correct camshafts that will be reground to Stage One specifications.
