Good people of the Jaguar and classic car world, I need a few minutes of your time! Some of you may know about a courageous little friend of mine, Nicholas Greiner. Nicholas, who is 12 years old, has been waging an incredibly brave battle against cancer for literally half his life. Each time we think he has this despicable disease beaten, it has returned. Tragically, this morning I learned that his doctors have found another cancerous tumor in Nick's jaw, and he faces yet more drastic surgery tomorrow (11/25). In his mother's words, Nick feels like 'thowing in the towel' at this point.

One of the things that has kept Nick fighting all these years are the messages of support he gets from his friends and family. Right now, Nick desperately needs more friends and lots of encouragement. Please, please, please visit the Caring Bridge website that has been set up in Nick's name and sign his guestbook. It doesn't matter that you may not have heard about Nick before today. Just tell Nick you are a 'car guy or gal' that heard about his fight on the Internet. This incredibly brave young man is a hero of mine. If you would take a moment or two to put a couple of words of encouragement in Nick's guestbook at the Caring Bridge website, I will be forever in your debt.
Thank you, Dan Mooney

I am very sad to have to report that my friend Trent Terry passed away shortly after midnighht last night. After waging a valiant battle for life following a terrible motorcycle accident on June 22, Trent never fully regained consciousness and started slipping away from us a couple of weeks ago. His family and loved ones have been by his side from the beginning and my heart aches for them.

Anyone who knew this vibrant, charismatic young man knows that his life was lived in the fast lane, both literally and figuratively. On a personal note, I take comfort from the fact that Trent, perhaps more than anyone I know, would not have wanted to live the way this cruel accident left him. I prefer to remember my friend as the gifted racing driver he was, with lightening reflexes and absolutely no fear.

I am proud to have known him, I am proud that he was my friend, I am proud to have watched him race, and I am proud to have shared many a drink with him. I will miss him dearly but I will never forget him.

Dan Mooney

Dearest Dan,

? Personal stuff edited out >

Trent's condition over the last week has amazingly improved. Despite a few little glitches, he wakes up more and does more each day. Last Friday, he held 2 fingers up on command, just like you or I would do a peace sign. Each day, he is more alert. I truly believe he knows all of us that see him. He follows our voices around the room and turns his head to where ever we are. Physical therapy gets him up daily, although sometimes he looks like a cat going to a bath, toe nails dug in the floor and wide eyed, he sits on the side of the bed.

He had to have surgery on Thursday for the bed sore on his tail bone. He did well, right after surgery, which usually sets them back. I was standing at the bedside and he raised his left arm up and rubbed my face very gently. He's pulled a lot of other tricks lately as well. Yesterday at about 4pm, he yawned and pulled the screws and wires out of his upper jaw. That was a trip to the ER. He looked a little funny with two 1" long screws hanging out of his mouth like fangs. Luckily, the jaw fracture was healed well enough that they just cut the wires out and let him go back to his normal room.

When Bill was walking out of the ER room to smoke, he said "wave bye to me Trent" and that hand and arm shot up and he waved. We all about cried. He amazes me every day now. At first, with all of my years as a trauma nurse, I was very down and reluctant to believe that he had a chance. In the last week, he has made me believe that he WILL come back full force and ready to take up right where he left off. I have all the hope in the world and I truly believe that I am watching a miracle occur. Thank you God!

Ladies and gentlemen, I want to tell you about a friend of mine called Nicholas Greiner. Nick has been fighting cancer for five of the eleven years he has been on this planet. We thought he had it licked when his cancer was in remission for almost five years, but tragically it returned last September. Nick, who lives in Oregon with his mother, Lynette, and elder sister Briana, has been fighting heroically and is just now emerging from a gruelling 8 week session of radiation and chemotherapy. As brave as he is, Nick has been having a really tough time of things over the last few days.

One of the things that keeps Nick going are the messages of support he gets from his friends and family. Right now, Nick needs more friends. Please, please, please visit the Caring Bridge website that has been set up in Nick's name and sign his guestbook. It doesn't matter that you may not have heard about Nick before today. My heartfelt thanks and best regards to all,

Dan Mooney

Ladies and gentlemen, I need to ask a favor. In the last few days, one of the brightest young stars on the Classic Jaguar team, Steve Sharp, has been very seriously injured in a horrible road accident and he could really use a little encouragement right now. Steve, who is just 28 years old, has sustained some life changing injuries and his road to recovery is going to be challenging.

Please take a few moments to mail Steve a "Get Well Soon" card with a few words of encouragment.

Thank you, Dan Mooney
