- On Monday of last week my friend Trent Terry was transferred to St. John's Neural Rehab Center on the North West side of St Louis. At St. John's he is undergoing an intensive program of rehabilitation and stimulation therapy designed to help him fully wake up and begin communicating - something which he has yet to do since his accident on June 22nd. The last few weeks have been especially frustrating because the modest gains Trent had been making were stalled by the medication he was put on to deal with his seizures. I have absolutely no idea how Trent's family continue to cope with this tragic situation. Please keep them, and Trent, in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you, Dan M.

- Unfortunately, Trent has been having a tough time of things since my last update. He has been having seizures and has also developed an infection from the tail bone surgery he had last week. Please keep him in your thoughts as he still has some major battles to fight. Thank you, Dan M.

- I spoke with Bill Terry this afternoon and he was in good spirits and told me that Trent continues to make small improvements each day. Yesterday was an especially good day because he was spoon fed a little jello, the first time he has taken any food by mouth since his accident. We laughed (it was good to hear Bill laugh for the first time in a long time) when Bill was telling me about how the nursing staff were trying to get Trent to drink a little fruit juice through a straw. This wasn't going at all well until Bill suggested they put some Mountain Dew in the cup (I would have suggested Budweiser), and Trent about choked he drank it so fast! Anyway, Trent still has a long way to go and a huge uphill battle ahead of him. Having said that, he is further along than anyone thought he would be immediately after his accident, so he continues to prove his doctors wrong and give us all hope. Keep those positive vibes and prayers coming. Thank you, Dan M.

- If I ever had a better start to a work week, I don't know when it was. This morning I received the following letter from Kim Terry. I will step aside and let Kim update you on Trent's condition, in her own words.
Dearest Dan,< Personal stuff edited out >
Trent's condition over the last week has amazingly improved. Despite a few little glitches, he wakes up more and does more each day. Last Friday, he held 2 fingers up on command, just like you or I would do a peace sign. Each day, he is more alert. I truly believe he knows all of us that see him. He follows our voices around the room and turns his head to where ever we are. Physical therapy gets him up daily, although sometimes he looks like a cat going to a bath, toe nails dug in the floor and wide eyed, he sits on the side of the bed.
He had to have surgery on Thursday for the bed sore on his tail bone. He did well, right after surgery, which usually sets them back. I was standing at the bedside and he raised his left arm up and rubbed my face very gently. He's pulled a lot of other tricks lately as well. Yesterday at about 4pm, he yawned and pulled the screws and wires out of his upper jaw. That was a trip to the ER. He looked a little funny with two 1" long screws hanging out of his mouth like fangs. Luckily, the jaw fracture was healed well enough that they just cut the wires out and let him go back to his normal room.
When Bill was walking out of the ER room to smoke, he said "wave bye to me Trent" and that hand and arm shot up and he waved. We all about cried. He amazes me every day now. At first, with all of my years as a trauma nurse, I was very down and reluctant to believe that he had a chance. In the last week, he has made me believe that he WILL come back full force and ready to take up right where he left off. I have all the hope in the world and I truly believe that I am watching a miracle occur. Thank you God!

- Trent continues to show small signs of improvement with each passing day. The day before yesterday he caught his dad and the nursing staff by surprise when he suddenly raised his right arm, then his left, then brought his hands together in front of him. He then raised his right leg slightly, at the knee. This was a very significant event as it was the first time he had shown any real mobility in his right side. I truly believe my pal will wake up one day soon. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you. DM

- There has been no significant change in Trent's condition since my last report, although yesterday he was moved to the Long Term Care Unit at St Anthony's Medical Center at 10010 Kennerly Road, St. Louis, MO 63128. I would like to publicly thank my friends and customers for the generous cash donations I have received to help Trent and Kim with the financial ordeal they are facing. Thanks also for all the kind messages of support, which are just as important to the Terry family at this incredibly difficult time. In the Jaguar business, as well as in life generally, Bill Terry is a hero of mine. When we spoke yesterday we both realized how this tragic accident had reminded us just how many kind and thoughtful people there are in the world. Sometimes, because of the cut and thrust of our working lives, we tend to forget that the vast majority of people are good. I cannot tell you how much Bill Terry appreciates the outpouring of support that he has received as he waits by his son's bedside for the miracle we are all praying for. A month to the day after his accident, Trent has yet to wake up. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you. Dan M.

- Trent has still not woken up since his accident on June 22, although he continues to show small signs of minor improvement every day. Over the weekend the doctors were able to disconnect the ventilator, which had been assisting his breathing. As of Sunday he was breathing entirely on his own, which is obviously a major step forward. This week the surgeons are planning on fixing Trent's jaw, which was badly injured in the accident. As critically ill as Trent still is, I was encouraged to hear from his wife Kim that he is miles ahead of where he was when I visited him shortly after the accident. In the next day or so I am going to start raising some money for Kim and Trent. In the mean time, if anyone would like to donate towards all the day to day expenses Kim is having to cope with while staying by Trent's side, please fire me an email. Until September 1st, CJ will be donating 5% of Internet sales at classicjaguar.com, including engine rebuilds, to Trent and Kim. Thanks, and keep those prayers coming!

- Well, not for the first time, my buddy Trent is defying the odds and proving people wrong! Although he has still not woken up, he has been showing some signs of improvement and is giving us all cause for hope. Keep those prayers coming - they might just be working.
July 5, 2008
- Yesterday was a really tough day for Trent and his family. Your prayers are needed now, more than ever. DM
July 4, 2008
- Although my friend Trent has still not woken up, yesterday saw some slight improvement in terms of a reduction in the swelling and pressure in his brain. He remains in critical condition, of course, although at this stage I feel like we should celebrate every little victory. Any improvement at all, however slight, is a very big deal. Please keep those positive thoughts and prayers coming. Trent is still hanging in there fighting for all he's worth. Please let the Terry family know you care and are thinking about them. Dan M.

- Bill Terry and his family need your prayers right now. Son Trent had a very serious motorcycle accident on Sunday evening (6/22) and he is being treated for life threatening injuries at the St Louis University Hospital in St Louis, MO. Ladies and gentlemen, I want to tell you about a friend of mine called Nicholas Greiner. Nick has been fighting cancer for five of the eleven years he has been on this planet. We thought he had it licked when his cancer was in remission for almost five years, but tragically it returned last September. Nick, who lives in Oregon with his mother, Lynette, and elder sister Briana, has been fighting heroically and is just now emerging from a gruelling 8 week session of radiation and chemotherapy. As brave as he is, Nick has been having a really tough time of things over the last few days.

One of the things that keeps Nick going are the messages of support he gets from his friends and family. Right now, Nick needs more friends. Please, please, please visit the Caring Bridge website that has been set up in Nick's name and sign his guestbook. It doesn't matter that you may not have heard about Nick before today. Just tell Nick you are a 'car guy or gal' that heard about his fight on the Internet. This incredibly brave young man is my hero. If you would take a moment or two to put a couple of words of encouragement in Nick's guestbook at the Caring Bridge website, I will be forever in your debt.
Dan Mooney

In the next few days I will put up a page outlining this sorry transaction in the hope that it will prevent anyone else making the same mistake I did. Watch this space...

It will be another 6 weeks or so before he can stand up, and after chatting to him last night I can tell you that he is impatiently counting down the days before he can begin learning to walk on his new prosthetic limb. Thanks again to those of you who sent cards and messages of support. One such card included a personal, handwritten letter from Steve's hero, Carroll Shelby.

- Steve Sharp Update - Many thanks to those of you who have sent 'get well' messages to Steve. Unfortunately, Steve had to have the lower part of his left leg amputated last Friday. He came through the surgery well and understands that things could very easily have been even worse. His recovery and rehabilitation will be doubly challenging because he also broke his right leg pretty badly and had to have 10 steel pins inserted in his good leg during a lengthy operation on Saturday. Although he is obviously pretty banged up and very sore, he is slowly starting to feel better. The doctors have told him he can start learning to walk with his new prosthetic left foot in about 90 days time. Please keep the cards coming - they really help.
- CJ Workshop - 1967 roadster (MH) - First of the British Racing Green paint is applied
August 15, 2007Ladies and gentlemen, I need to ask a favor. In the last few days, one of the brightest young stars on the Classic Jaguar team, Steve Sharp, has been very seriously injured in a horrible road accident and he could really use a little encouragement right now. Steve, who is just 28 years old, has sustained some life changing injuries and his road to recovery is going to be challenging.
Please take a few moments to mail Steve a "Get Well Soon" card with a few words of encouragment.
Thank you, Dan Mooney
Please mail your card to:

- Warning! Please be aware (and spread the word) about a 1967 E Type roadster being offered at the upcoming Houston Classic Auction in Seabrook, Texas on May 5th. Lot # 58, described on pages 140 and 141 of the Worldwide Group catalog, is described as having been the subject of "a two year plus nut and bolt restoration completed in 2006 by Classic Jaguar". This claim is 100% false. Classic Jaguar has carried out some basic mechanical repairs to this car on two occasions - first in March 2005 and then again in May 2006. The owner of this car told me that the car had been 'badly restored' in St Louis for his father-in-law. Not only did Classic Jaguar not restore this car, by my definition of the word 'restored', nobody did! When I last saw it, this car was at best a very average example. It is only in fair condition and still needed some significant repairs when it was returned to the owner. The auction estimate of $100,000 to $120,000 is laughable.
