This vehicle is now sold, thank you.

This car was purchased by a friend of our
s on Bring a Trailer in May 2018 for $11,392 (including 5% buyer's premium). In the ensuing couple of years, he kept it at a vacation home in Connecticut. With that property now sold, he had no further need for the car so he sold it on to us. The previous owner was an engineer who had owned and thoroughly enjoyed the car for more than 38 years, performing several mechanical and cosmetic modifications over the course of his ownership. The seats were reupholstered in a groovy 1970's vibe fabric, and the doors have custom fabricated wood panels installed. At some point the car was equipped with a replacement 2.5 liter TR6 engine paired to a rebuilt 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The car has done approximately 30,000 miles since the engine and transmission were installed. Total miles now showing are approximately 95,000. Other work performed by the previous owner was the installation of a new radiator and coolant hoses, u-joint replacement, carb rebuild, installation of a new clutch throw-out bearing and an electronic ignition conversion.

When we acquired this TR6 we checked it over mechanically and dealt with any obvious needs. We replaced the brake master cylinder and installed 4 new Vredestein Classic tires, after which she sailed through the Texas safety inspection. The car now runs and drives very well - and sounds very sporty thanks to its Monza exhaust! The engine has great oil pressure and the car runs cool, even in the Texas heat.

Cosmetically, the paint is poor and will need to be redone at some point. The convertible top has a small tear in it, but is serviceable. There is a full tonneau cover and soft top boot with the car. There is no significant rust in the car, which is way more solid than other examples that we have seen. The frame and floors are in especially good shape (see photos below). All in all, this car has "great bones" and would be a fantastic entry level classic that could be enjoyed immediately and gradually improved over several years of ownership.

This vehicle is now sold, thank you.
