Assembling a CJ5 five speed

 We start off with an empty casing!
New CJ5 tailhousing 
 
 Custom (short) shifter rail is
installed in top cover
Cluster gear in place 
 
Custom CJ5 fifth gear, input
and main shafts
Starting to assemble the mainshaft 
 
 
 Rubber hose is used as a temporary
clamp for fifth gear
 
 
 We use Timken bearings throughout
 
 Shaft now fully assembled
Installing the built up shaft
into the casing
 
 
 Time to install the top cover plate
   
 Note speedo gear on mainshaft
No gaskets in the CJ5 transmission 
   
 Installing the CJ5 tail housing
New billet output flange installed 
 
 Speedo drive installed in tail housing
Serial # 1-6-05 SF ready for delivery!
