1965 E Type Roadster  Team CJ performance upgrades

Specification (briefly) for this project is as follows:  Team CJ brakes, suspension, engine, cooling and handling upgrades.  Also full body restoration and bare metal repaint thanks to unfortunate misrepresentations by the seller of this E Type.

The following photographs show the body having its corroded panels cut out. Notice the terrible (and potentially dangerous) previous repairs to the inner sills and rear wheel arches. Clearly this project has now turned into a complete body restoration. Rather than simply replace the boot floor, we have decided to replace the entire rear assembly (boot, inner and outer wings). At least now you will know that every square inch of rust will have been removed from your E Type by the time it arrives in Mexico.

Although there remains a great deal of work to do before we will be ready to paint the car, we are now making steady progress towards that point.

The interior has now been completely removed, as have any remaining engine bay components. We have already begun the process of rebuilding the front and rear suspension systems. The pictures below show the rear end as it came out of the car, and in the process of being torn down.

The body has now been delivered to Jeff for installation of the new floors and sills.

Don't panic - we'll get it all back together for you!
 

The engine bay is now totally stripped. Next we will remove the interior in readiness for floor and inner/outer sill replacement.

It is a shame that this car was so badly represented - a rust free car indeed.

Nonetheless, once we are finished our work your E Type will be ready for another 35 years of service.

Our instructions are to improve the performance and reliability of this car by incorporating a number of Team CJ upgrades throughout the suspension, steering, braking and cooling systems. We will also be installing a Team CJ aluminium flywheel and dealing with some corrosion damage.
