S Type Estate On Way?

Rumours abound within the industry that an estate version of the popular new S Type Jaguar is planned for release in the year 2000. The S Type has received mixed reviews since its launch this spring, with critics pointing at an unfortunate family resemblance to the US market Lincoln range - particularly when viewed from astern.

Jaguar management has been quick to point out that the new saloon is very much a Jaguar, with very few components drawn from the proverbial Ford 'parts bin'. Road tests have shown the S Type saloon to be an extremely able performer, and an estate version is sure to be an appealing option in a sector of the market currently dominated by BMW and Mercedes.

This would be the first estate model ever offered by the Jaguar company.
