Clean, one owner, mechanically upgraded, fantastic value...

This is a clean, one owner, low mileage XK8 convertible that has recently undergone major mechanical work in the Classic Jaguar workshops. The car fell victim to failed timing chain tensioners which led to the engine being replaced with an even lower mileage unit. This is a very common problem on the early XK8 and XJ8 cars - and you should never buy an example that has not had the timing chain tensioners replaced and upgraded.

While replacing the engine, we obviously upgraded the timing chain tensioners and guides, and also upgraded the waterpump and themostat housing at the same time. Two brand new 245/50/17 Michelin Pilot tires were installed up front, matching the virtually new Pilots already on the rear. The optional chrome wheels are in very good condition.

This car now runs and drives perfectly, with zero mechanical issues. It is a car I would drive across the continent without the slightest hesitation.

The car has never been in an accident and has a perfect Carfax report which shows regular maintenance from day one. (Note: The report actually shows two owners, which is an error. The car was re-titled when the only owner moved from Florida to Texas in 2007).

There are a few minor scuffs and scratches around the body, although nothing serious. I have highlighted the worst flaw (on the left rear quarter panel) in one of the photographs below. Generally, the paint is very smart and presentable for a car of this age. The interior is in very good condition, the only obvious sign of wear being some very typical scuffing on the driver's seat squab. The dash and console wood trim is perfect. There is a cosmetic crack in the wooden shifter knob. The power operated convertible top works perfectly and is in excellent condition.

Although this is a very nice car and one that virtually anyone would be proud to own and drive, please remember that it is 12 years old and does have some cosmetic flaws. As is almost always the case, the photographs make the car look better than she does in the flesh.

I bought precisely this model new in 2000 and paid more than $75,000 at that time. I therefore think this car represents incredible value for money at today's price!
