What a wonderful opportunity for someone to acquire a totally solid, fully sorted, largely rebuilt XK140 that needs absolutely nothing but a new owner!
This very rare 1955 XK140 MC drop head coupe is an extremely high quality driver that benefits from a major mechanical overhaul in the CJ Workshops within the last thousand or so miles. The work included rebuilding the matching numbers C Type engine, as well as the installation of a CJ5 five speed transmission (the original matching numbers overdrive transmission is included in the sale). The carbs were rebuilt at the same time and the suspension, braking, ignition and cooling systems were all upgraded. This car runs and drives beautifully and would be an ideal candidate for long road trips and rallies.
While the car was in the CJ Workshops, we also installed a complete Suffolk & Turley interior kit and had the stunning burl walnut trim veneered and refinished by Madera Concepts in CA. The canvas convertible top is in excellent condition.
The paintwork on the car should be considered driver quality. It is extremely presentable, and still has a great shine to it, but it is obviously an older repaint and accordingly there are several minor flaws which prevent the car from being described as being in 'show' condition. I have included photographs of the worst of the paint flaws in the series of pictures below. There are also several photographs showing the chassis and undercarriage, which are about as clean, rust free and well serviced as any XK140 you will ever see.
All of the chrome and brightwork is in very good to excellent condition.
This beautiful XK140MC Drop Head Coupe is elegance personified. It also represents a fantastic investment in today's market place at our asking price. I wouldn't normally say this about a 63 year old classic, but this really is a case where you could fly in and drive her home, wherever you live!
