1959 Jaguar 3.4 XK150 DHC for sale
Extensive mechanical rebuild in CJ workshops

This vehicle is now sold - thank you

This handsome Jaguar XK150 drop head coupe was the subject of a major mechanical overhaul (costing over $60,000) in the CJ workshops back in 2008. The owner has driven less than 500 miles since, hence the reason the car is being offered for sale. At that time, the car received a full CJ engine rebuild, as well as rebuilt and upgraded suspension, rear axle, brakes, cooling, steering and ignition systems. The automatic transmission was not rebuilt. All invoicing for the work performed is available to the new owner, and photos of the work in progress can be seen here.

Note: The 3.4 liter engine is not the original matching number engine.

Cosmetically, the car is in excellent "driver" condition. This is by no means a show car. The older Old English White paint is very presentable, but not perfect. There is no obvious rust visible anywhere on this car. The chrome is in very good shape, and the car benefits from recent new Dayton wire wheels (5) and Vredestein radial tires (4). The spare tire is an old Dunlop bias ply. Other than a hammer and a "T" bar key, there are no tools in the boot.

The panel fit on this driver is presentable, but again, not perfect. The doors, boot lid and bonnet all open and close with authority, and latch firmly. The canvas convertible top is in very good condition, although the vinyl rear window is clouding very slightly. The deep red interior was apparently re-done a few years back and remains in excellent condition. A couple of rubber seals could stand to be re-glued, but overall the interior is in great shape. An aftermarket modern stereo has been installed, and a pair of substantial speakers have been discretely tucked away behind the rear storage access door (see photos).

In summary, this is an extremely solid, very presentable, non-matching number driver that would make any Jaguar enthusiast proud. It is not a restored show car, and it has its fair share of nicks and imperfections, but it represents exceptional value and is likely to be a great investment for the new owner. The boot compartment is stacked with history, manuals and documentation.
