Measured Cubic Capacity:

4,285 cc

Compression:

9.12:1 with 0.040" composite head gasket

Pistons:

A&E cast, 0.020" oversized
18.5 cc piston dome

Skirt clearance:

1 = 0.0025"
2 = 0.0025"
3 = 0.0025"
4 = 0.0025"
5 = 0.0025"
6 = 0.0025"

Rods:

Fully reconditioned and balanced connecting rods, ARP rod bolts and nuts torqued to 55 ft/lbs with 30 weight oil on threads.

Sleeves:

New stepped 'top hat' sleeves throughout

Crankshaft/block:

Finished bore size: 3.6459 to 3.6463
Piston size: 3.6434 to 3.6438
Main housing size: 2.9165 to 2.9167
Crank main journal size: 2.7402 to 2.7404
Main bearings @ 0.010"
Rod bearings @ 0.010"
Front main seal - upgraded to Teflon
Main bearing lock washers upgraded to ARP
New oil pump

Machining out the old sleeves
Re-surfacing the deck
 
Cylinder head:
 
Water jackets were welded up
and re-shaped
 
Spring pressure - closed 90 lbs, open (0.40 lift) 185 lbs
All new intake and exhaust seats installed (0.005" interference fit)
All new silicon bronze guides
Valve stem to guide clearance: Int 0.0014 to 0.0015", Ex 0.0015 to 0.0016"
Cyl head cc = 96 cc
All new valves (Int = 1.75" Ex = 1.625")
Intake valves have seals retro fitted
All new (later style) keepers, split collets and spring retainers on intake side
Valve lash (0.004" intake, 0.006" exhaust)
Tappets are new OE
NGK BPRE5 spark plugs set at 0.025"

Shim allocation as follows:

(Intake) #1 .104" #2 .107" #3 .108" #4 .112" #5 .114" #6 .113"
(Exhaust) #1 .110" #2 .113" #3 .116" #4 .114" #5 .112" #6 .105"

Head studs:

New torqued to 60 ft/lbs with 30 weight oil on threads. Hylomar on lower threads where studs installed in block at 27 ft/lbs. After initial running, allow to fully cool overnight, then re-torque head nuts to 60 ft/lbs. After 500 to 1,000 miles, re-torque head to 60 ft/lbs.
