This 1974 roadster is very well known to us at Classic Jaguar. It is a totally solid, very presentable car that has been serviced and maintained by us for the past 7 years. I have personally driven the car extensively and have absolute confidence that it will represent an exceptional investment for the new owner. I am not aware of any rust issues.This is a high quality driver, not a show car. The paintwork has a few minor chips (see photo of left side bonnet gap, below) and the panel gaps are not perfect. The interior door trim panels have been replaced at some time with a non-standard vinyl. While perfectly presentable, the material is not quite the same texture as the OEM vinyl would have been. Grading the overall cosmetic condition, I would say it is a strong 7 out of 10. Mechanically the car runs and drives very well and has no major issues. The next thing that will need attention are the front brakes, which could use new rotors and pads in the next few thousand miles. The car runs cool, even in the blistering Texas summer heat, and holds good oil pressure. A significant service was just completed in the CJ workshop (7/11/08) so this E Type is ready to use and enjoy immediately.
Some of the items addressed since CJ began caring for the car are the rebuilding of the carbs, a complete replacement stainless steel exhaust, shock absorbers, Pirelli P4000 tires, rear brake rebuild, AC overhaul (works very well), new brake master cylinder, new IRS cage mounts, high pressure power steering line, new Optima battery, coil, voltage regulator and an alternator rebuild.
